2005 Doña Silvina Malbec Reserve - 92pts
Bodegas Krontiras’ 2005 Dona Silvina Reserva Malbec was sourced from a 90+-year-old Malbec vineyard which is now biodynamically farmed. The grapes were hand sorted, berry by berry and fermented with native yeasts. The wine was aged in new French oak for 16 months before bottling without fining or filtration. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it displays an enthralling nose of wood smoke, tobacco, violets, cinnamon, black cherry, and plum. This leads to a medium- to full-bodied elegant wine with succulent flavors, excellent grip, and a lengthy, jammy finish. Give it another 2-3 years of cellaring and drink it 2011 to 2020.
2006 Doña Silvina Malbec Reserve - 93pts
The 2006 Dona Silvina Reserva Malbec spent 18 months in new French oak and is a bit more full-bodied and succulent than the 2005. Layered, ripe, and impeccably balanced, this outstanding effort will offer a drinking window extending from 2011 to 2021.
